Welcome to the Nursery!
Specializing in trees, shrubs, and perennials hardy to the local area, our nursery is open to the public from early spring through mid-October. As licensed growers of Bloomin'Easy shrubs, we are pleased to offer these Canadian bred and propagated, low maintenance selections direct from grower to gardener! What we do not grow ourselves comes from other local family-owned nurseries in southwestern Ontario.
What's Available in the nursery
Perennials
Perennials offer great value because these plants should come back next year! We only offer varieties that are known to be hardy to Brantford and surrounding areas and are always on the lookout for bright, bold colours and new introductions.
Hostas
We definitely find that folks either love hostas or hate them, but if you love them, you can always find room for one more! Looking for that rare variety? We might just have it because these our some of our favourites for our own gardens. John's Snake Eyes leaf even received the Best Hosta in Show prize at the 2024 Paris Fair!
Shrubs
Shrubs (bushes) are great options for many spaces. We have a wide selection of new varieties and trusted favourites for both sun and shade. Many shrubs are low maintenance, compact, and easy to care for once established in your landscape. While the varieties may change throughout the season, we normally have hydrangeas, lilacs, spirea, weigela, ninebark, and many more options.
Ornamental and Shade Trees
We've curated a collection of unique ornamental trees that are suited to urban environments including Japanese Maples, Dogwoods, Eastern Redbuds, and other choices that add interest to your gardens. We also have a selection of container grown on site shade trees available.
Evergreens
We love ornamental evergreens for their year-round interest. Choose from a wide selection of unique plants in a variety of colours. While we do not normally have larger evergreens in stock, we encourage you to contact us directly about availability if these are on your wishlist.
Fruit Trees, Shrubs, and Vines
The nursery season kicks off in early spring with fruit trees, shrubs, and vines available in starting in April. Our fruit plants are agricultural grade, intended for orchard plantings, and of a superior quality to those found at retail garden centres and big box stores.
Professional Horticultural Products
We stock planting media, natural mulches, containers, stakes, tie, and other professional-grade horticultural supplies in support of the nursery and orchard operation. Occasionally we have surplus inventory for sale. Please contact us to discuss your needs.
Note that we are not licensed to sell fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or similar. We do not carry bagged soils, mulches, or rocks.
What We Don't Have - Annuals, Baskets
We specialize in winter hardy plants. We've made the decision not to grow or sell annual flowers as well as hanging baskets and ferns because these are not sustainable choices in our opinion. In our experience, it is also very difficult to compete with the convenience of grocery store pop ups and big box stores for these items because they are able to offer them as "loss leaders". We normally have a limited selection of vegetable plants and herbs in mid-May.
