Best selection of plants that feed people and cold hardy trees, shrubs, & perennials
We keep prices competitive by encouraging clients to pick up their plants at the farm. Pre-season orders must be picked up between April 12-17, 2025. We will contact you to confirm our hours in early April. Orders placed after April 10, 2025 must be picked up during regular retail hours by our closing time on the Sunday immediately following. Our April hours are Wednesdays to Fridays, 2-5pm, and Saturdays and Sundays, 10am to 4pm starting Saturday, April 12th.
PLEASE WAIT FOR OUR CONFIRMATION EMAIL BEFORE HEADING TO THE FARM TO PICK UP. We are not always able to pull orders right away during peak periods.
If you are unable to pick up your plants within these timeframes, please contact us to arrange delivery, purchase additional care at the farm, or to cancel your order (see below).
A NOTE ABOUT LOADING AND SECURING YOUR PLANTS
We always recommend plants be transported inside a vehicle or enclosed trailer whenever possible. Once plants have leaves, they are easily damaged by windburn during open transportation. You may want to bring an old sheet or tarp to cover your plants on the drive home as well as a friend to help you tie down. Please note that we are unable to assist with loading and securing your purchases for liability reasons. We offer delivery options for those unable to transport plants themselves.
We are not normally able to deliver plants, especially further away from the farm because that takes us away from important work here. We don't believe in packaging plants up in cardboard boxes to ship them by way of couriers and much of our stock is much too big for them to handle. Instead, we encourage you to pick up your purchases so you have a chance to visit the farm.
If you require delivery, please contact us for a quote. Delivery costs are based primarily on the distance from the farm because our staff and vehicle costs apply regardless of whether you purchase a single tree or many trees. We recommend that clients further from the farm consider sharing an order with friends or neighbours to share on the freight costs.
Please note that your plants will be delivered to your front porch or driveway as applicable. A scheduled appointment is required for us to deliver to apartments with buzzers. For health and safety reasons, our drivers cannot move plants to rear yards, assist with layout, or do the planting for you. Deliveries are made based on our scheduled and availability - an additional fee will apply if you require us to schedule delivery for a specific date or time.
Once you place your order, your new plants are removed from the stock block and prepared for pickup or delivery. Sometimes you may not be ready for your plants for longer than our specified timelines, so we've introduced an additional care charge for clients who require us to look after their plants until they are ready for them. Please contact us in advance if you require this service. Rates are based on the size of your order, duration of care, and time of year.
Some retailers offer warranties that provide free or discounted plants if the plant you originally purchased does not live for a specified period of time. In order to keep our prices competitive, our basic warranty provides that your new plant is healthy at the time it leaves our farm. There are too many things outside our control once the plant departs the farm for us to guarantee its success and we don't believe in asking all clients to subsidize a warranty program they might not require. Some exceptions apply for optional warranties purchased through our Garden a la Carte brand.
We generally consider wholesale orders to be 5+ of the same variety of plant adding up to a minimum order value in a single purchase. Please contact us or visit at the farm to discuss wholesale or contractor needs.
We may be able to accommodate requests for items we do not normally stock, but advise that these are subject to our suppliers' minimum order volumes and require a deposit to proceed. Please contact us if you are looking for something not listed in our online catalogue.
Purchases are final sale upon pickup or delivery. In order to keep prices competitive, we charge the greater of $25 or 15% restocking fee for all cancelled or abandoned online orders. We deem an order to be abandoned if you do not pickup your plants or make arrangements for additional care by the above timeline. This covers the transaction costs of processing the payment and refund through our third party point of sale provider and the staff time to return the item(s) to the stock block. Sorry, there are no exceptions to this fee because we are otherwise out-of-pocket for these costs and may have missed the opportunity for someone else to purchase the plant(s).
Plant and horticultural supply purchases are subject to HST in accordance with CRA regulations. Unfortunately our online retail platform does not have a mechanism to honour tax exemption cards. Please contact us to make alternate arrangements to purchase online if you are eligible for a tax exemption.
Our online retail platform accepts VISA, Mastercard, and VISA debit. We also accept debit and cash in person at the farm. Please contact us to make alternate arrangements to purchase online if you do not have access to a credit card.
Our plants are final sale once picked up or our truck leaves to make your delivery. Sorry, no exceptions.
We do not normally accept used pots, containers, or trays at the farm. Returned items can pose biosecurity risks to our nursery and orchard along with causing us to incur disposal costs that drive up prices. Most municipalities have recycling programs available if you are unable to reuse or re-sell these items. Please do not leave items at our gate after hours.
